One mistake people tend to make when starting a how to gain weight program is they expect to see instant results, which makes them unmotivated if they are not reaching their goals straight away. While it seems harmless if such people have a small physique and aggressively are trying to gain weight, it is certainly absurd if you have a high ratio of body fat to lean muscle.

Such people will need to engage in cardiovascular exercise to metabolize the fat in combination with basic compound exercises such as squats, dead lifts, bench press, military press and even some body weight exercises like pull ups and chin ups, if they want to see instant results. Muscle building takes hard work. You are required to shock the body into thinking it needs the extra muscle to cope with the additional stress placed on the muscles.

In addition with larger and more toned muscles, another advantage of muscle building workouts is the capability to burn off fat. Unlike cardiovascular activity which only increases your metabolic rate whilst exercising, lifting weights increases your metabolic rate for a few hours after you have stopped. Even if you stop lifting weights for a while, the body will still continue to burn off fat, but it can do this even better when a regular fitness program that includes muscle building workouts.

As you would already be aware, cardio exercises strengthen the heart and improve the functionality of the cardiovascular system, which is a vital component of the circulatory system. So if you want to burn off fat on regular basis, a program that combines aerobic training and muscle building must be put in place. Skinny guys need to leave out the cardio!

A common misconception that some people tend to make is they think that by working out they are building additional muscle tissue. Nature has given us enough muscle fibers we will ever need and this cannot be altered. Instead, what we should change through healthy muscle building is the muscle tissue density, firming it up, thus making the muscle fibers bigger and more defined.
